The Service Partnership for Children of High Conflict Families is a grant project funded by the Children’s Trust. The Partnership envisions that all children and youth in Miami-Dade County will be screened for exposure to high conflict and domestic violence, and that those children identified and their families will have access to comprehensive and coordinated services. The mission of the Partnership is to address the unmet needs of children of high conflict families and children exposed to domestic violence by developing a system of care that identifies children in need of services when they come in contact with domestic violence shelters, law enforcement, and the Court system. The Systems of Care philosophy employs an approach to services that recognizes the importance of family, school and community, and seeks to promote the full potential of every child and youth by addressing their physical, emotional, intellectual, cultural and social needs.
The project was developed in collaboration with The Advocate Program, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, and other Community Service Partners, under the leadership of M. David McGriff, Ph.D., Judge Judith Kreeger- Family Division, and Judge Amy Karan -Domestic Violence Division.
The Partnership will engage in an ongoing effort to identify the gaps, needs and trends for children of high conflict families and those exposed to domestic violence. The objective is to develop a comprehensive plan for high-quality, evidence-based practices, programs and services that are responsive to the needs for children in high conflict families or exposed to domestic violence, based on system of care principles. Over 41 agencies have committed their time and expertise and have become partners in the project.
Janice M. Fleischer, J.D., FLASH Resolutions has been retained to design the process and facilitate the meetings of the Partnership.
